Great House

"easy to access, great yard, most amenities were there. It should have screen doors. "

by Tammy W. | Oceanside CA | April 09, 2013

Great House and Location

"The house isn't much from the outside but simply adorable in. It was perfect for our little family and dog. Pool was great and got a lot of sunlight. Our only recommendation is to put in a hot tub :-) We would rent this house again. My family loved it. "

Great Vacation Experience

"House Was Tidy and Clean, Great Experience Overall. The house had everything we needed for cooking and barbecuing. The pool was clean and the pool maintenance was prompt. In property management, Kelly was polite and prompt. "

Terrific House but Outdoor Space Needs Spruce Up

"We spent the whole Winter in Palm Springs and rented the Alexander Poolside Get-away (APGA) for the first two-and-a-half months (also see that review), and the Hip Desert Hideaway (HDH) for the last six weeks. The layouts were basically mirror images of each other, with HDH having a bit more room because the owners had connected the house to the garage with a hallway and laundry closet. This made the house feel more spacious than APGA. Nice finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms gave the house a luxury feel. The house was nicely decorated and the interior furnishings were comfortable. Improvements could be made by adding an indoor dining table. (The only dining table was outside, thus too cool on a few nights to sit out there.) Also, the poolside furniture was a hodgepodge and wasn’t very comfortable. And the outdoor fireplace was in a secluded patio outside the master bedroom door, with only two uncomfortable chairs, thus it couldn’t be used for a group. (As a result, we never used it.) Moving this to the main patio, and providing more comfortable seating for more people, would make it better. The pool equipment is old and it cost as much to heat it for six weeks as it did to heat the pool at APGA for 10 weeks. In the scheme of things, these cons were minor; we enjoyed our stay very much and would happily rent this house again. The Vacation Palm Springs team members were great, and went out of their way to ensure that we had a pleasant stay. (P.S. – We enjoyed Cheeta, a primate who lives around the corner. He’s very well behaved (and famous; see http://www.cheetathechimp.org/ ), and we could hear and even see him occasionally (in his cage). The HDH house has one of his paintings hanging in the hallway.) Mentioned them in the review, but to reiterated and add to them: 1) replace uncomfortable, miss-matched poolside furniture; 2) add indoor dining table/chairs; 3) move fire-pit to main patio and add comfortable seating. Also, pool equipment is old and costly to use. Plantings need attention (not impressed with the landscape person; not doing a good job); lots of debris in the beds; landscaper didn't take away any debris that had collected during the time we were there; he didn't blow off debris from patio, we had to do it. Pots and pans are awful and should be replaced. The team members were great. We really appreciated their attention to the things that needed fixing during the stay. After our experience with Vacation Palm Springs, I wouldn't think of renting via an owner directly or through another agency. The Vacation Palm Springs team here was very professional and on top of things. Great experience. "

Totally Wonderful

"We liked the style of the home and the pool. The Vacation Palm Springs team was great. "

Cute and Classy

"The interior of the property was very clean and very nicely designed/organized. Pool was cleaned on the 1st day of our stay. An in ground jacuzzi would be great to hang out in when it's cold out. We are overall fairly happy with everything else. Reservation team was very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed talking/working with them. "

Loved It!

"My family and I appreciate the "well-kept" look of the house, both the exterior and interior. Our expectations were met, and then some! Adding some outdoor fans would be nice. Effortless check in and check out process. The hardest part is choosing which property to stay at. I would recommend, and I would stress the simple and easy check in process. "

Not Just Hip, a Serene & Comfy Hideaway!

"We loved the mid-century decor in the living room. The house was nicely decorated throughout and maintained well inside and out. Well appointed kitchen. The pool heater worked wonderfully - which sounds like an odd thing to review, but it made me very happy as I love to hang out in the pool for hours and I did! Recommendations: A small dining table indoors, umbrellas outside would be nice, need more bars to hang towels in the bathroom, and a shelf in each bathroom to place toiletries. Also, instructions about using the fireplace and the misters (though the misters didn't work once we figured out how to turn them on.) The outlet in the TV for the living room went out during out stay, so that was kind of a bummer, but luckily we weren't there to watch TV. "The television system is working correctly as of our most recent inspection on July 28 2011. The misters are also working well. - Tony in property management" I talked to both Nate and Chris and they were both friendly and helpful. "

Nice Time but Won't Rent This Place Again

"The entertainment equipment kept shutting off so we couldn't watch movies. The pool heating equipment needs to be covered by something, get rid of the piles of tiles and gravel, the misting system didn't work–one of the spouts just poured out water, and it wasn't easy to find the turn-on anyway. The backyard is NOT dog friendly, our dogs ran into the cactus right next to the porch and we all got micro cactus slivers in our hands from playing with the dogs. The pool float rafts were covered in a thick layer of dust and we had to clean them ourselves. The bed in the master bedroom was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on–very hard. Also the one small couch proved to be inadequate for more than two people to comfortably sit on, we couldn't lounge anywhere except the pool chaises in the sun. We also thought it had a hot tub because of the "spa-heating" option but there was no hot tub–definitely needs one. Someone came over promptly to turn on the pool heater, which we appreciated greatly. Though someone showed up and was rather indignant that we were there at 12 noon the last day even though we had a late checkout and had to continue informing him of that fact. "

Nice House with Pool.

"Nice bedrooms, nice yard and pool. What we didn't like: One bedroom was very light, with only partial window treatment. No dining table in the living room. BBQ did not work. "

by Rinke B. | San Diego CA | March 22, 2011

We Liked

"We liked the pool, service, kitchen, yard, beds, and the quiet of the neighborhood. The chimp compound in Palm Springs is too close to this home =( Reservations team was 5 star. Property managers were excellent. "

by M Ellen G. | Carlsbad CA | February 04, 2011

Perfect Vacation

"Interior of house was pretty modern, I liked it. The best was back yard. It was perfect for playing with my dog and swimming pool was great, too. Garage was there, but guest were not allowed to use. It was hot summer day, I felt like i'm burning in my car which parked outside for 3 days. just that. Justin was great, very satisfied with service. This is alot more secure and better than renting a Palm Springs vacation property byy owner-directly. "

by June J. | Los Angeles CA | September 13, 2010

Enjoyed Pool, Aesthetic

"We enjoyed the pool, modern kitchen and overall aesthetic. More shades are needed in the living area to keep out the morning sun. The middle bedroom top window lets in lots of light. An outdoor umbrella would be nice and more tissue paper. In reserving, we spoke to Nate and he was very friendly and helpful. In property managers, Scott was very prompt and attentive. "
