This Palm Springs private family compound combines 3 villas - a great place to stay for an extended family, for couples, for groups of friends, for golf trips, delivering just the right combination of togetherness and privacy!
California Way includes 3 properties on one spacious private lot: The Lodge, The Cottage and The Cabana — 3 properties on one spacious and private lot, close to downtown, with 8 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms total — nestled together on a spacious lot that offers splendid mountain views.
The centerpiece, for lounging in the sun, is a gorgeous new swimming pool, with a delightful tanning shelf at one end and plenty of depth for splashing or lap swimming. Between the pool and the Cottage, a California style round in-ground whirlpool spa beckons. There is also a large cold plunge pool located adjacent to The Lodge.
There is an abundance of outdoor spaces for seating, sunning and conversation. There are numerous sets of outdoor tables & chairs for conversation and dining, adjoining both the swimming pool and the splash pool.
Indoors, the principal gathering area for California Way is the Great Room at The Lodge, a sprawling living and dining area, decorated in splashy reds and yellows, with a beautiful stone fireplace and seating for up to 16. One dining table in the great hall room seats up to 10. Another table in the great room foyer seats 6.
The Lodge has been featured in The New York Times as an example of the quintessential indoor-outdoor Palm Springs style home, and features modernist furnishings by iconic 20th century designers including Charles Eames and George Nelson.
For a quieter mood, try the stylish living room of The Cottage, decorated in crisp whites with soothing aqua blue accents. This charming Palm Springs bungalow was completely updated in 2010. The Lodge property was totally updated in 2012 with an all new kitchen and new bathrooms.
The Lodge has a spacious eat-in kitchen for preparing your meals, in addition to a complete galley kitchen at The Cottage, which features gleaming new stainless appliances. And there are two gas grills on premises if you're in the mood for BBQ!
The sleeping arrangements are ideally situated for maximum privacy. The Lodge sleeps 6, including a large master suite with King bed, walk-in closet, private bath with a splendid sunken tub and shower. Two additional Queen bedrooms and 1.5 baths make up a second wing,
The Cottage sleeps up to 7 guests; in addition to a King and a Queen bedroom, the Twin bedroom sleeps up to 3 persons , with two Twins plus a trundle bed. The two updated baths offer fresh new tile, new pedestal sinks and other all-new facilities.
The 7th & 8th bedrooms are located in The Cabana, adjacent to the plunge pool. One bedroom has a Queen bed and sleeper sofa, the second cabana bedroom has two twin beds (and must be accessed via the first cabana bedroom). The two cabana bedrooms are connected and share direct (yet private) access to the bathroom.
The property has plenty of parking, and in Winter mature orange and grapefruit trees provides delicious fruit.

The Pool House is the pool house to the California Contemporary property. All three are owned by the same family and are newly available for rent in combination as of 2011.

"This beautiful compound is a wonderful place to reunite with your loved ones. The layout of the 3 houses makes for a perfect vacation for a large group with plenty of areas to be all together or sneak away and have some alone time. My 16 friends had the most amazing 'family reunion' and can't wait to do it again next year! Overall everyone that I had contact with at Vacation Palm Springs was very pleasant, helpful and considerate of our privacy. We had some issues with the pool equipment and internet not working but the management team went out of their way to repair the pool so that our vacation wasn't ruined. "

"The houses were great sizes and loved having two pools. We had 15 people and more than enough space! All houses are fully equipped with everything we needed. We brought a pool volleyball net, and it was key! Everyone was very accommodating and helpful! "
Relaxing Family Vacation
"The property was clean and spacious. I believe it was described well on the internet so we knew what to expect. It is an ideal location for a family vacation. There is enough space for everyone to be able to get some peace and quiet when needed. The home was well equipped and very comfortable. I think the property was great. There were plenty of blankets/sheets/towels. the only thing I can think of that we had trouble with was the internet, the toaster in the main house (which seems to be stuck in "bagel" mode) and some minor trouble with the blinds. Thank you for your feedback. We have purchased a new toaster for the main house and will have the blinds repaired-Travis in Property Management. The reservation team and property managers were all wonderful. The reservation was easy. The instructions about the property were perfect and the property managers were available when needed. A very professional team. I will rent from Vacation Palm Springs again in the future. "

"Each year I organize a trip of eight golfers. This year we shose Palm Springs and we stayed in an eight bedroom house offered through Vacation Palm Srpings. The house was AMAZING! Large pool, large bedrooms- each with its own bathroom. Beauthiful furniture and kitchen. Amazing service. For example, one of our golfers needed some medications. Vacation Palm Springs quickly arranged for a physician to make a house call and write a prescription. "

Mid Century Compound
"This place was great! Where to start... First of all this place is very spacious. Really it is two separate properties connected by a gate. It was perfect for our large group (17 people). The common areas were large enough to accommodate all of if we wanted to be together. At the same time there were enough areas to escape to if felt like sneaking off to read a book by yourself. My favorite escape was the back porch area off the cottage. I loved having two pools although I wish we had the option of heating both of them. We hardly used the unheated pool as (despite the triple digit temps in late Sept) it was just too chilly. I loved the design of houses and they made great backdrops for our fun vacation weekend. We didn't leave the compound the entire weekend (with the exception of grocery runs) and we all big cooker so we were very thankful of the abundance of cooking utensils, etc. One of the grills may have run out of gas so def make sure they are completely filled. All in all, we had a great weekend and we really have California Way to thank. Thanks guys! I hope to make this an annual tradition so... See you next year!!! The only issue we had was the internet was really spotty. We were on vacation and trying to escape the online world so it wasn't that big of a deal but it would have been nice to have reliable internet. Also, the cabana wasn't what we expected. Perhaps a floor plan would have helped. I didn't like that you had to walk through one bed room in order to get to another bedroom. Really it should be set up as a one bedroom with a living room area. Our guests were flexible so it wasn't that big of a deal but it would have been nice to know beforehand. When we arrived there had just been a big wind and lightening storm so the pool / property was understandably disheveled. Also, we had no idea how to turn on the heat for the pool, etc. And we could couldn't figure out the internet. One quick phone call and someone was over to help us within ten minutes. Great service. "The property was fantastic and perfect for our bachelorette party weekend. All of the decor in each of the houses was incredible! Everyone commented on how it was like we were staying at the "New" barbie's dream house. So much fun and beautiful too! LOVED the pools and especially the cottage! We loved the cottage's pool and kitchen best, although the Lodge's Living area was perfect for all of us to hang out in. Our experience was truly fantastic and I couldn't have asked for anything more. Also, it was so great to have so many dishes, platters, glasses, etc. We will definitely be renting this property again! Room for Everyone
"We had a great time at California Way! The house is very retro in decor and has everything you could need! We loved being able to use all the different areas between the three houses to play games, have meals, and hang out. We did however only use the pool in front of the cottage so we could all be together. There is more grass so you are not on the hot cement and the pool appears cleaner and nicer. "
Best Palm Springs Weekend Break
"I rented California Way for our company retreat. It was a great choice. Everyone was impressed with the property and everyone got their own room. Because there were 3 houses, we had the choice of being together or spending time alone - we weren't forced to be together because we were in one house. Heating the pool was the best money we ever spent. Also, the house is close to downtown as well as the aerial tramway (which was also an awesome experience). Would definitely rent again. A few more lights in the backyard of the Big House would be helpful. Also, sharper knives in the kitchen. Justin was very polite and helpful when I called in. When we arrived at the property, we were greeted warmly by Mac who was also extremely helpful and kind. Made us feel right at home. "
Palm Springs Family Reunion
"Very impressive main room large enough for us all to mingle. Pools and spas were well maintained and grounds were private, elegant and comfortable with plenty of seating, tables, towels and linens, plates and kitchen wares. W/S #4 made for a quieter santuary for us while #2 was used for the meet and greet. Heating worked well and we did not need the A/C during our stay. The DVD player in #2 was not working, We tried to diagnose but it was the player itself needs replacement. The Samsung 50" in #2 is a beautiful new TV but you do it injustice with poor reception. Note from Property Manager: Thank you for your input. As of Dec 2010 we have corrected the reception for televisions and they are now working beautifully. Ovens in #2 are too small. #4 is better equipped there and I feel it should be visa-versa. A few other minor things that were easily worked around. Granted it was unusually cool during our stay but we manufacture Patio Heaters and you may want to consider making them available on request. Portia entered and serviced our paperwork without incident and Justin handled the only call I had to make without delay. Scott was the only tech dispatched during our stay and he arrived quickly, identified and corrected the issue quickly. Pool instructions were not quite correct. "

"Some of the light switches are not operable. Light bulbs were out and have been changed now working fine. - Pete DVD player is now working fine. DVR system is operating - Pete. Pool House house lock did not work. The lock is now functioning correctly. - Pete We liked the comfortable, open spaces and the fact that the property had 2 separate "houses." Fun decor and great pool! We had a great experience with the reservations team, especially Portia. The property managers were great. We appreciated the heads up about keeping the doors closed to maintain the AC temp in the summer heat. "

Both pools are large. The Cottage pool is the largest, rectangular at 15 x 30, with a shallow end called a "tanning shelf" for wading and lounging in the water.
The Lodge cold plunge pool is an oval shaped "freeform" and is wide and deep.
Both The Lodge and The Cottage have outdoor in-ground whirlpool tubs. The Cottage in-ground whirlpool spa is heated; the Lodge in-ground whirlpool is cool/cold depending on time of year and not heated.
