A Glimpse into Hollywood History
Built by a silent screen matinee idol and his Ziegfield Follies dancer wife, Villa Altamira was purposefully located just a few blocks from downtown and the famous El Mirador resort in Palm Springs, a public playground of Hollywood celebrities. To achieve a balance between social activities and privacy, stars built their own Palm Springs vacation homes in the acres surrounding the former El Mirador resort and the Movie Colony was born.
